The rise of a powerful spreadsheet

Over the past few months, I have been diligently working on a significant update for the Investment Tracker. This concise summary highlights the key changes:

• Developed three separate trackers: Stocks, Crypto, and Stocks & Crypto
• Introduced a new function that calculates realized gains and summarizes them in a report based on transaction history
• Calculated unrealized gains and current positions using the unrealized gains report
• For cryptocurrencies, a new function now connects to CoinMarketCap’s API and extracts prices almost instantly, offering a substantial improvement over the slower and more cumbersome IMPORTHTML functions
• Added money-weighted average return for the entire portfolio
• Resolved bugs in the spreadsheet and issues related to conditional layout
• Temporarily removed the ability to track different categories within stocks (to be reintroduced in the future)

To my knowledge, this is the only spreadsheet that provides a comprehensive overview of your realized gains using a legitimate accounting method (FIFO; first in, first out). Additionally, the spreadsheet now easily integrates with CoinMarketCap’s API, elevating its capabilities. In the next phase, I will focus on addressing any remaining bugs with the help of this community.

Naturally, I will continue refining this spreadsheet. In no particular order, my future plans include:

• Stock-split adjustment for stock trackers
• Ability to deduct quantity of coins when transferring coins from A to B due to network fees
• Total net worth tracker
• Rebalancing tool
• Market-watch tool based on technical indicators that will email you when certain conditions are met
• Dividend analysis
